Malabar chestnut

Medium-sized tree that grows to 18 m in height. It has shiny green palmate leaves and a smooth green bark. The fruit is a large woody pod with nuts that are light brown, striped with white. They are edible and said to taste like peanuts. The leaves and flowers are also edible. A native of Central and South America where it grows in swamps, it was recently introduced to the Philippines.
