Leguminosae

Medium-sized tree that reaches a height of 20 m. The leaves are actually flattened stalks to 20 cm long. The small flowers are white or cream and grow on spikes 10 cm long. The fruit is a twisted pod. A native of Australia and parts of Indonesia, it was recently introduced to the Philippines as a reforestation species, and is also planted as an ornamental.
