Langka, Nangka, Jackfruit
Artocarpus heterophylla
Moraceae
Medium-sized tree that grows to 15 m high, with a milky sap. The leaves of mature trees are oval while those of young trees tend to be lobed. The fruit is very large, to 60 cm long, with a rough surface, green turning yellow when ripe, edible, hanging from the trunk or large branches. Indigenous to India and the Malay Peninsula, it was introduced at an early date and is now widely planted in the Philippines.
