Large fishtail palm




Large fishtail palm, Takipan
Caryota rumphiana
Palmae

A large solitary palm that grows to 25 m high. The leaves measure up to 3.5 m long. The inflorescence is pendulous, large and up to 2 m long. The fruits are round and red when ripe. It is indigenous to Indonesia, New Guinea, Australia and the Philippines.
