Solitary, rarely clustering palm that grows to a height of 10 m. The leaves grow to 3 m long, in a relatively sparse crown. The fruits are similar to Palmera (C. lutescens), but a little smaller. It originated in Madagascar and is now widely grown in the tropics. It was recently introduced to the Philippines.
