Medium to large tree that grows to 20 m in height. The leaves are up to 20 cm long, leathery and slightly hairy below. The flower is small and white. The fruit is round, fleshy, edible, densely covered with golden-brown hair, and about 10 cm in diameter. Indigenous to the Philippines and Taiwan, it is planted as a shade tree, and for its dark wood (known as kamagong) which is used for furniture and carvings
