McArthur palm
Ptychosperma macarthurii
Palmae

A slender, clustering palm that can grow to a height of 9 m. The trunk is light gray and ringed with distinct leaf scars. The leaves are up to 2.5 m long and the leaflets are jagged at the end. The flowers are borne below the leaves and the fruits are ovoid, about 1 cm in diameter and red to black when ripe. A native of New Guinea, it is widely planted in the tropics and was introduced in the Philippines in the early 1900s.
