Small tree that grows to 6 m high. Leaves are compound, with 1 to 5 leaflets up to 10 cm long. Flowers are lilac white with a yellow tube and the fruit is a capsule about 15 cm long. A native of the West Indies introduced to the Philippines as an ornamental.
