Indian rubber tree

Indian rubber tree
Ficus elastica
Moraceae

Large spreading and strangling tree, with leathery and shiny leaves to 25 cm long. A native of tropical Asia, it was introduced to the Philippines, possibly during the American period. It is now commonly planted in parks and roadsides. Two varieties exist: one with yellow patterns on the leaves, and one with red burgundy leaves.
