Small tree that grows to 10 m high. The leaves are deeply lobed. The flowers are pink to purple, fragrant, in clusters of 6 to 10 flowers, with 3 stamens. The pods are up to 30 cm long, and split open when ripe. A native of India, it is widely planted in the Philippines as an ornamental flowering tree.
