Medium-sized tree that grows to 20 m in height. The leaves are large, 30 to 50 cm long, and very deeply lobed. The flowers are club shaped, 15 to 30 cm long. The fruit is green and measures up to 20 cm in diameter, with an edible meaty pulp. A native of Polynesia, it was introduced to the Philippines where it is now widespread.
